Arbois
The capital of the Jura wine region, ARBOIS was also the birthplace of several important innovations in the identity and quality of Jura wines. It was here that the first AOC in France was created in 1936 and the France’s first winemaking cooperative was opened in 1906.
Poligny
Whilst POLIGNY might place the Comté cheese as its star product, it remains a town of great repute for the wines of the Jura.
Along with Arbois and Salins-les-Bains, Poligny is at the top of the tree regarding taste as much as any town in the “Golden Triangle”
Coteaux de
la Haute-Seille
With some forty winemakers and two wine cooperatives, all of the treasures of the Jura are proudly represented. It is here that we fine the home of vin jaune, CHATEAU-CHALON. An appellation of great prestige found in a small village.
The villages of Passenans and Frontenay hosted the 13th edition of the Percée du Vin Jaune on 31st January and 1st February 2009.
L'Étoile
This village is one of the four geographical AOCs of the wines of the Jura. Its name could be from the shape of the five hills that surround the village or from the starfish fossils that are hidden in the vines. The vines planted are principally Chardonnay but with some Savagnin and Poulsard.
Coteaux lédoniens
In the past LONS LE SAUNIER sheltered in its heart a winemaking heritage. Today the know-how of its winemakers blossoms on the favoured lands that make up these slopes. Nothing could stand in the way of them coming back to the town to celebrate the 10th edition of the Percée du Vin Jaune in 2006.
Sud Revermont
The round roof tiles that are found in SAINT-AMOUR reflect the first influences of the South of France, however the SOUTHERN REVERMONT really is a fine example of the Jurassian wine region. Its wines affirm all the character that is typical of its “terroir” in the face of its Burgundian neighbour.
The villages of Vincelles and Saint Agnes welcomed the 12th edition of the Percée du Vin Jaune in 2008 and were magnificently decorated along the theme of the three local AOCs: wine, cheese and Bresse poultry.
